Amy and Odie

I haven't really posted on my blog in ages. To recap what has happened, Amy has gone home. We got a nice card. But, at the end of the card, it said Emmie, not Amy. No wonder she doesn't come when we call her!!

The next thing that happened happened today. I got a new hamster!!! His name is Odie, like Odie from Garfield. Odie, my hamster, is a fancy hamster. He is a short haired tan hamster. He is so cute! I'll be sure to post a picture soon of Odie. We haven't messed with him alot today.

Snow Day!!

Last Wednesday, I was let out of school early because of all the snow. This wasn't scheduled. So I had to call my mom at work. When I came home, I went outside to play with Amy. The snow was almost to her stomach. When she ran, it looked like she was a snow plow. All of the snow came flying!

I have a swing set in my backyard. There is a slide that was covered with snow. I took my sled and slid down the slide. I almost knocked my head on our fire pit. I was screaming even though it was fun.

If you are wondering why I haven't posted in a while, it is because Truffles was put to sleep a week before Christmas. The vet said that he had a tumor in his pouch area that grew so big that it pressed on his heart and he had a stroke. I took him out of his cage two days before he died and he couldn't walk. I was so scared. I didn't know what to do. We put him in the bottom of his cage to sleep. The day he died, I was at school for yearbook staff meeting. I asked my mom how Truffles was doing. She said my dad took him to a small aanimal specialist. When he came back, Truffles was dead. I was so sad. We burried him by my old cat, Genesis. We wrapped him in a towel with bedding and put a carrot in with him. I will never forget about the memories that I had with him.

Our Rescued Dog

On Friday, we rescued a dog named Amy. She's my neighbor's dog but since we flooded a few weeks ago they can't live in their house. They thought someone was watching Amy but no one was. My dad and I went back and forth, giving Amy food, water, and attention. She was barking and we didn't want anyone calling the police for her barking. So at about 8:30 on Friday(I was at school already), my mom took Amy and left her in our backyard. I was so surprised when I got home. My mom said that if they don't want the dog back, we can keep her. I was bugging her over the years to get a dog but she said no. I was so happy. We took Amy to Pet Smart and my soccer game. I finally didn't fell left out. We think Amy is part Pitbull, part Labrador Retriever.
